Seattle’s Lefties Should Dominate
The Seattle Mariners’ lefties will have a field day against Griffin Canning of the Angels.
Canning has allowed a .262 ISO and wOBA of .399 to his first 145 lefties this season. He’s also only struck out 16.6% of batters and has allowed 34.9% of fly balls while inducing just 34.9% of ground balls.
On the other hand, the Mariners should have the majority of hitters batting from the left side. While these lefties strike out at a high rate, they’ve also hit for some power. With Canning unable to add many strikeouts this season, the Mariners certainly have the edge against him.
Luis Castillo Can Handle Los Angeles
The Mariners will send Luis Castillo to the hill for today’s game against the Angels. Castillo has struck out 25.4% of batters and has limited walks to 5.8%.
Even if Castillo makes a mistake and lets up a long ball, thanks to his low walk rate, he rarely lets anybody on base. In addition, he’s held teams to 21.6% of line drives, which is really good.
