Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels

Justin Verlander Isn’t The Same
I’ve written about Justin Verlander multiple times this season, suggesting he’s not the pitcher he used to be.
That’s still the case. Verlander will take the hill for the Astros but has allowed a .404 wOBA to his last 87 batters. His strikeouts are down, and he’s allowed nearly 45% of hard contact with more than 30% of fly balls and line drives.
The Angels’ lineup includes a handful of power bats, including Taylor Ward and Mickey Moniak, who can take advantage of Verlander’s struggles.
Tyler Anderson’s Inconsistencies
The Angels will pitch veteran lefty Tyler Anderson again. He’s had some good stretches this season. However, over the last 30 days, he’s allowed a .349 wOBA to his last 92 batters. Anderson has also given up more than 25% of line drivers and has walked nearly 11% of batters over the previous month.
While the Houston lineup hasn’t seen much success against lefties over the last month, the lineup is filled with stars that will take advantage of Anderson if he falls below in counts.
