Bowl season has been incredible thus far. We’ve had some wild upsets and some epic finishes. This week, there’s bound to be more of the chaos. Here are three bets to consider for the next portion of bowl games using our AI Model.
Picks Summary
- Duke-Ole Miss Over 51.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook
- North Texas +14 (-110) at Bet365
- Minnesota-Virginia Tech Over 42.5 (-110) at Bet365
Gator Bowl
Duke Blue Devils vs. Ole Miss Rebels
Thursday, January 2, 2025 – 7:30 PM ET at EverBank Stadium
The AI Model believes Ole Miss and Duke will combine for 54 points in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. However, Caesars has set the total at 51.5, so the over is the way to go in this game.
Talk The Talk!
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was tweeting a storm about how the SEC is much better than the other conferences. Only for Tennessee to get walloped by Ohio State in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
It would be embarrassing if the Ole Miss Rebels didn’t beat Duke, knowing how much Kiffin talked about how his team deserved to be in the College Football Playoff.
You can’t lose to an ACC school, especially after no ACC has covered against the spread this season.
That said, Ole Miss averaged 37.50 points per game and should have Jaxson Dart starting. They’re in great shape to put up a ton of points.
Duke Confirms No Opt-Outs
Duke’s head coach, Manny Diaz, has confirmed that he doesn’t expect any opt-outs. That should give the Blue Devils a big enough boost to at least put up some points against Ole Miss.
Ole Miss will do most of the damage on offense. But if Duke can contribute, that would be great for the Over.
Let’s side with the Over via the AI Model.
NCAAF Pick: Over 51.5 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook (check our Caesars Sportsbook Review)
First Responder Bowl
North Texas Mean Green vs. Texas State Bobcats
Friday, January 3, 2025 – 4:00 PM ET at Gerald J. Ford Stadium
North Texas Can Stay Around!
The North Texas Mean Green scored 34 points per game this year. The offense still managed 322.83 yards in the air and another 165.83 yards on the ground.
The Mean Green will want to make this game a shootout. Although they’ll have many new faces and younger players, the system will remain the same. The freshmen will have the opportunity to show off, and they’ve got some really good ones.
Additionally, North Texas just won against Temple, 24-17, which will help add some momentum.
Plenty Of Talented Players In The Portal For Texas State
Texas State had a seven-win season. But now they’ve watched some of their best players enter the portal and join Power-4 schools.
That certainly won’t help their chances against North Texas.
Meanwhile, Texas State has had at least one team score 38 or more points in each of the last four games. Despite being a 14-point underdog, North Texas has the offense to be that team.
I’m on North Texas at +14 with the AI Model.
NCAAF Pick: North Texas +14 (-110) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)
Duke’s Mayo Bowl
Minnesota Gophers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
Thursday, January 3, 2025 – 07:30 PM ET at Bank of American Stadium
The AI Model thinks Minnesota and Virginia Tech will combine to score 45 points. With the total stuck at 42.5 via Bet365, the Over is the play.
Minnesota’s Offense Has Improved
The Minnesota Gophers scored 26.33 points per game this season behind Max Brosmer at quarterback.
Brosmer had 17 passing touchdowns and only five interceptions. Meanwhile, running back Darius Taylor added 873 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. While Virginia Tech has a good defense, it still allowed more than 145 yards per game on the ground this season.
Look for Minnesota to take advantage.
Even Portal Players Could Play For V-Tech
The Virginia Tech Hokies could allow transfer portal players to play in this game. The big issue for Virginia Tech is the quarterback.
They’ll be without Kyron Drones and potentially Collin Schlee due to injuries. That would force third-string quarterback Pop Watson to play at quarterback.
Watson has already passed for 400 yards this season and looked his best against Virginia on November 30, when he completed 66.7% of passes in a 37-17 win. Virginia Tech will be fine offensively.
Let’s back the Over 42.5 in this matchup.
NCAAF Pick: Over 42.5 (-110) at Bet365
