Washington Huskies vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

Washington Could Easily Be 6-0
The Washington Huskies have a 4-2 record. But with a win over Michigan, it’s easy to see that Washington is good enough and probably should be 6-0.
Washington had self-inflicting errors against Rutgers and Washington State in their losses. But this team is competent defensively and has a veteran quarterback who can lead.
It was also showcased against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 6. Washington had to face multiple quarterbacks on defense and make adjustments. Meanwhile, the offense didn’t have many penalties, and the Huskies’ kicker finally got a couple through the uprights at the end of the game.
Washington is dangerous, and if they play a complete game and don’t turn the ball over, they’ll be a tough out anywhere in the Big Ten.
Defense First
Iowa is more complete than they’ve ever been. The Hawkeyes have been able to move the ball down the field and rely on the defense to get stops. However, they’re coming off a 35-7 loss to Ohio State, which wasn’t surprising. After all, Ohio State is the team to beat in college football this season.
That said, both teams are terrific defensively, but I still like what Washington brings to the table offensively. Rogers has thrown for nearly 1,000 yards more yards than Cade McNamara this season, and Jonah Coleman can be compared to Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson.

Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Quinn Ewers Expected To Return
The Texas Longhorns will welcome Quinn Ewers back into the starting lineup for the Red River Rivalry.
Manning led Texas to two consecutive wins as a starter over Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State. But this was Ewers’ team and will always be.
Ewers was on a Heisman campaign before his injury. Winning the Heisman is unlikely now, but he’s still completed 73.4% of passes with eight passing touchdowns this year.
Ewers could struggle against Oklahoma’s defense. But it’s more likely that Texas will give Ewers and the offense a much better field position in this game.
Jackson Arnold’s Benching
There was a lot of hype surrounding Jackson Arnold and Oklahoma this season. However, the sophomore quarterback could not figure things out and was benched after a poor performance against Tennessee two weeks ago. Michael Hawkins Jr, a true freshman, took over and led the Sooners to a 27-21 win over Auburn.
He wasn’t terrific, either. But since he and his team won, he’ll be the team’s quarterback against Texas.
Hawkins won’t be able to throw the ball much against Texas. But he’s a quality runner who can break out for a significant gain. That said, Texas has one of the best defenses in the nation. The run defense is excellent, and the secondary is phenomenal.

Kansas State Wildcats vs. Colorado Buffaloes

Colorado Disrespected
The Colorado Buffaloes are 4-1 and just added a 48-21 win over UCF in the most complete game the team has played under Deion Sanders’ tenure. The Buffaloes have knocked off Colorado State, Baylor, and Central Florida and had a bye week to prepare for Kansas State.
Shedeur Sanders has thrown for 14 passing touchdowns, and Travis Hunter has earned six of them. Hunter has put together a Heisman-like campaign, and with another big performance against Kansas State, he’ll probably be one of the front-runners.
Figuring Out Kansas State
Kansas State just dominated Oklahoma State last week, 42-20. However, this same team lost to BYU on the road, 38-9.
It’s tough to play on the road in Colorado right now. Kansas State doesn’t have much of a passing game behind Avery Johnson, and the run game could be better.
It feels like Kansas State is overrated, and the Wildcats certainly don’t play nearly as well on the road. They almost lost to Tulane on the road and took a brutal loss to BYU.
