The Cubs and Dodgers will each send out their Japanese ace tonight. The Cubs will throw out Shota Imanaga, while the Dodgers will roll with Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Yamamoto hasn’t pitched in the second half due to an injury. But he’s already thrown against 293 batters and held them to a .128 ISO and wOBA of .262 this season.
Meanwhile, he’ll face a Cubs lineup with five batters with high strikeout rates. There are also three batters in the Chicago lineup with very low ISO and wOBA numbers against righties over the last month.
More Potential For Los Angeles
While Imanaga has been excellent this season, he’s still allowed nearly 31% of fly balls and has given up more than 23% of line drives to righties. He’s also allowed a .304 ISO, which is excellent for a guy like Shohei Ohtani, who has hit a .227 ISO against lefties over the last month.
The Dodgers strike out fewer and will be more aggressive at the plate against Imanaga. Throw that they’re home, and the Dodgers are still the team to beat tonight.
