At Odds Trader, we analyze the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship, the second week of the FedEx Playoffs, where the top 70 in the standings play down to the top 50 for the penultimate event next week, the BMW Championship in Colorado.
The two top players of 2024, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, look more vulnerable this week having both teed it up a dozen times between them over recent years and never really being in contention to win at Memphis.
Let’s take a closer look at our analysis before heading to our top-rated sportsbooks.Â

FedEx St. Jude Championship
August 15-18, 2024 at TOC SouthwindÂ
Course Notes
The TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee is known as a very fair test of a golfer’s skills and was designed by Roy Prichard in 1988.
One area of a player’s strength to pay close attention to is the total driving stat because the landing areas on the fairways are more demanding than most weeks on the PGA Tour, with its testing rough and water hazards on eleven holes waiting to penalize the errant tee shots.
If a golfer is long and accurate, they have the perfect grounding for hitting the smaller-than-average Bermuda Grass greens, which is optimum for low scoring.
Keep following Billy Horschel for profits
Last week, we predicted that Billy Horschel would play well and have a chance of winning the Wyndham Championship due to his recent good form and previous history of winning the FedEx Playoffs a decade ago.
Horschel did not let us down due to his 7th-place finish, which ensured some returns on the week.
The popular thirty-seven-year-old from Florida looks to have his tail up, and being a confident player with a career full of peaks and troughs, we believe Horschel is close to hitting one of those peaks.
This week’s track, the TPC Southwind, is one of the stops on the PGA Tour that Horschel plays well at with a strong plethora of course forms to illustrate his liking. That strong trend of form shows five Top 10 finishes from the dozen occasions that he has teed it up in Memphis.
Those facts alone make Billy Horschel a solid props pick this week, so use the Bet365 comprehensive range. Look to use the top 20 and top 10 markets along with a more speculative prediction for Horschel to win the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Golf Pick: Billy Horschel to Finish Top 10 (+330) at Bet365
Golf Pick: Billy Horschel to Finish Top 20 (+120) at Bet365
Golf Pick: Billy Horschel to Win Outright (+3500) at Bet365
Was Russell missing the Wyndham?
It was noticeable that Russell Henley chose to not play last week’s Wyndham Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club, a track he has had many good results at over the years, and a test that suits his neat style of tee-to-green play perfectly.
In the past, that would not have been a choice for the thirty-five-year-old who has been a mainstay entry in North Carolina, but with his world ranking at #14 and a similar FedEx standing, his participation at the Tour Championship looks assured.
So, perhaps Henley has been saving himself for these three weeks after taking a break since an impressive showing at the Open Championship.
Then there is evidence that Henley is at home with course demands here at TPC Southwind given he was 6th last year and 7th back in 2016, and with those question marks against Scheffler and Schauffele, perhaps this is the week that the Georgia man can sneak up the rail and back into the winner’s circle.
We believe Russell Henley is primed to have a solid week in Memphis and we advise taking him in the win and top 10 market.
Golf Pick: Russell Henley to Win Outright (+4500) at Bet365
Golf Pick: Russell Henley to Finish Top 10 (+350) at Bet365
