Oilers Too Slick for Kings
The Oilers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in their Game 1 victory over the Kings on Monday night. But let’s give credit where credit is due, LA did not go gently as they rallied to cut the lead in half before the Oilers’ offense awoke from its brief slumber and cruised to a 7-4 win.
Zach Hyman had three goals and an assist in the first playoff hat trick of his career while Edmonton’s resident phenom, Connor McDavid, had five assists in the offensive explosion. The Oilers outshot the Kings, 45-37, and Stuart Skinner had 33 saves in the win for Edmonton.
NHL Pick
The Oilers are naturally prohibitive chalk again with many of the best sportsbooks installing them as high as -190 home favorites. I’m not fond of laying that kind of lumber but the disparity between these clubs allows me to take a walk on the wild side and lay 1½ goals while getting a premium price of +147 for my daring.
The Oilers have defeated the Kings by two goals or more in six of their last eight wins and I see that streak continuing. Lay it and like it with the Greasers.
