Carolina opened up their series with the Islanders by notching a 3-1 win before they struck again on Monday evening with a 5-3 victory. They now lead the series 2-0 as the series moves to the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
The Canes have built their team on solid defense and stingy goaltending but the offense has not always been there to pick up the slack when the defense falters. Nevertheless, those occurrences are few and far between but in Game 2 the tables turned as the offense came alive with four third-period tallies to capture the win.
