Maryland Terrapins vs. Florida Gators
Thursday, March 27, 2025 – 7:39 PM EDT at Prudential Center
Does Maryland Have a Chance?
The Maryland Terrapins escaped Colorado State with a buzzer-beater shot from Derik Queen. However, Maryland struggled that entire game and needed a significant boost late to survive.
Maryland has shot a 53.8% effective field goal percentage this season but will likely be held to a lower percentage against Florida.
After all, Florida has limited teams to a 45.4% effective field goal percentage, giving up only 29.3% from deep and 46.2% from inside the arc.
Maryland can add a solid number of offensive rebounds and could get to the foul line at a higher rate. However, ultimately, finding good shots will be tough.
Florida Doesn’t Look Elite
The Florida Gators closed out the SEC Tournament looking elite. But after two games in the NCAA Tournament, Florida hasn’t been elite.
They’ve gone 0-2 against the spread and just escaped the UConn Huskies, who really challenged them on the defensive end.
UConn was never a good defense this year but played its best defense when it mattered the most. Meanwhile, Maryland is a top-ten defense per KenPom. Maryland should stifle Florida and make it challenging for the Gators to find open looks or gain second chances.
There are no guarantees that Maryland wins outright, but Maryland is complete enough to at least cover the 6.5-point spread.
NCAAB Pick: Maryland +6.5 (-110) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)
