Sean Manaea’s ERA was below 1 to start the season. However, his last start against the Royals wasn’t pretty. So far, he’s allowed more fly balls than ground balls induced and has watched righties hit 36.8% of line drives.
Manaea has only faced two lefties throughout the entire season. Tonight, he’ll be expected to face at least three in the Los Angeles lineup. But that still means there will be six righties ready to attack Manaea.
Right-Handed Power Against Yamamoto
Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been incredible throughout the season. He’s the highest-paid pitcher in the MLB and has earned 33.3% of strikeouts to start the season.
However, he’s allowed a .241 ISO to righties. Guys like Pete Alonso and Francisco Alvarez have opportunities to connect on a long ball.
The Pick
The Dodgers will likely get most of the runs. The Mets just need to work Yamamoto on each inning and get to the bullpen. That’s a very good possibility for New York.
