Severino Could Get Rocked
The Mets will roll with Luis Severino today. He’s a righty who has allowed a .292 ISO and wOBA of .455 to his last 53 lefties. Those 53 lefties have also hit 25.6% of line drives with 28.2% of fly balls.
Additionally, those lefties have only struck out 17% of the time against Severino and have hit a near 8% barrel percentage.
Severino might only face a few lefties. But he’ll get two dangerous ones, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber already hit a bomb yesterday and has all the potential to hit one again today.
He’s smacked a .294 ISO and wOBA of .404 against his last 61 righties. Meanwhile, Harper has hit a .288 ISO and wOBA of .403 against his last 58 righties. Those two could set the tone for the Phillies against the Mets today.
New York Can’t Keep Waiting
The Mets have struggled to hit starting pitching throughout the playoffs. It’ll likely be the same story against the Phillies today.
They’re in line to face Cristopher Sanchez, a lefty, who has held his last 94 batters to a .116 ISO and wOBA of .272 over the last month. Sanchez has been much more consistent throughout the season and will likely face a Mets lineup that continues to flail and struggle against left-handed pitchers.
Only Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso even have a wOBA greater than .306 in the projected lineup.
