Justin Steele is about to make his third MLB start of the season. Meanwhile, other starters are getting their first crack today.
It’s funny how that works. Either way. Steele has an ERA of 8.00 with nine innings under his belt. He’s also struck out only seven batters and has a WHIP of 1.44.
However, he’s taking on an Athletics lineup that hasn’t been elite since last year. The Athletics’ projected lineup has five batters who have struck out at a high rate against lefties dating back to last season.
Plus, don’t forget that Steele held 577 batters to a .122 ISO and wOBA of .274 last season. He’ll get back on track, and this is the game that can help him do it.
Severino’s High Walks
Luis Severino made his debut for the Athletics last week and walked 16% of batters, including 27.3% of righties.
Unfortunately, he’ll battle a Cubs lineup that has walked over 10.4% of the time. The righties have walked 10% of the time in the Chicago projected lineup. If the Cubs stay patient, they’ll get on base and cause havoc.

Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The AI Model predicts the Dodgers will win 4.9-3.8 over the Braves. Ultimately, the Braves haven’t won a game this season, while the Dodgers are undefeated. Therefore, the Dodgers at -140 look like a bargain.
Can The Dodgers Hit Chris Sale?
The Braves will send out their ace to stop the bleeding. Atlanta hasn’t won a game this season, and the Dodgers have won every game this year.
Sale looked tremendous in his season debut, striking out 31.8% of batters with a .050 ISO and wOBA of .291.
However, he’ll take on a Dodgers lineup that has smashed a .242 ISO and wOBA of .375 against lefties since last season. The Dodgers are dangerous and should be able to at least put a couple of runs on the board before Sale exits.
Dustin May Is Back!
The Dodgers will give Dustin May the ball. It’ll be his first start for the Dodgers in over a year after he dealt with a season-ending injury last season.
May should enjoy some success against a live-less Braves team. The Braves are 0-5 and haven’t shown any consistent offense this season.
Atlanta’s lineup has hit a .295 wOBA dating back to last season against righties. The Braves have also struck out 24.7% of the time against righties.
Don’t expect May to pitch deep in this game, but he should at least keep the Dodgers in the game. I’ll ride with the Dodgers at -140.
