MLB Picks for March 31: Don’t Trust Joey Estes

There are another 14 games on the MLB slate throughout the day! I looked at the later matchups and used the AI Model to help me figure out the best bets on tonight’s slate. Check it out below!

Picks Summary

Cleveland Guardians vs. San Diego Padres

Monday, March 31, 2025 – 9:40 PM EDT at Petco Park

Our AI Model believes the Guardians and Padres will tie at four. Meanwhile, the Guardians are +1.5 (-188) on the run line and have some value using our AI Model. Take the Guardians here.

Can Luis L. Ortiz Keep The Walks Down?

The Guardians will pitch Luis L. Ortiz tonight against the red-hot Padres.

Ortiz isn’t known for his heavy strikeouts. However, he still limited 553 batters to a .293 wOBA and allowed only 7.1% of walks.

This is ideal since the Padres are usually aggressive at the plate. The projected lineup walked only 6% of the time against righties and struck out only 18.6%.

Ortiz will need to limit line drives and keep hard contact down. He was inconsistent in these areas but will face a Padres lineup that didn’t perform exceptionally well throughout last season.

Kyle Hart Will Get The Call!

The Padres will give their young lefty, Kyle Hart, the ball. Hart will take on a Guardians lineup that hit a .214 ISO and wOBA of .343 against lefties last season. The Guardians have way more potential and will likely face many pitchers, including several relievers, once Hart’s day is done.

I’ll side with the Guardians at +1.5.

MLB Pick: Guardians +1.5 (-188) at Caesars Sportsbook (check our Caesars Sportsbook Review)

Chicago Cubs vs. Athletics

Monday, March 31, 2025 – 10:05 PM EDT at Sutter Health Park

The AI Model thinks the Cubs will beat up on the Athletics, 4.8-3.3. However, the Cubs are just -130 on the moneyline in tonight’s game. Consider the Cubs in this spot.

Ben Brown Will Get The Start!

The Cubs will send out Ben Brown tonight. He’s a right-handed thrower who added nearly 29% of strikeouts last season.

Meanwhile, he’ll go up against an Athletics team that struck out over 21% of the time last season against righties.

There are already five batters in the Athletics lineup that struck out at least 25% of the time against righties last season. Brown could be in for a solid outing with the Cubs tonight.

Don’t Trust Joey Estes!

The Athletics will run it back with Joey Estes tonight. The righty allowed a .214 ISO and wOBA of .338 with 24.9% of ground balls and 35% of fly balls allowed. Estes also added only 17% of strikeouts and didn’t have many put-away pitches.

Meanwhile, he’ll face a Cubs projected lineup that hit a .328 wOBA against righties last season. Kyle Tucker is the team’s largest addition, but many hitters can handle Estes’ pitches.

I’m backing the Cubs at -130.

MLB Pick: Cubs ML (-130) at Bet365 (check our Bet365 Review)

Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Monday, March 31, 2025 – 10:10 PM EDT at Dodger Stadium

The AI Model predicts the Dodgers and Braves will combine for 8.6 runs tonight. Meanwhile, the total is currently at 8 at most sportsbooks. The Over is the ideal move here.

It’s Never Easy Against The Dodgers!

The Atlanta Braves will send out Grant Holmes tonight. He’s a right-handed starter making his season debut tonight.

Holmes pitched against 283 batters last season and allowed a .117 ISO and wOBA of .288 against those hitters.

Still, he’s facing a Dodgers lineup that isn’t that easy. The Dodgers’ projected lineup has smashed a .211 ISO against righties dating back to last season. The team only has one batter who struggled with power in the previous season. That’s Tommy Edman, but he has multiple home runs this year.

No matter how good of a pitcher Holmes is, he won’t have it easy against the undefeated Dodgers.

Can The Braves Wake Up?

The Dodgers will send out Tyler Glasnow. He’s a righty, who allowed a .162 ISO to 505 batters last season.

Glasnow is a heavy strikeout pitcher. However, when he allowed contact, 48% of balls hit were hit with hard contact. Additionally, 261 righties smashed 27.3% of fly balls.

Glasnow should pitch better than Holmes, but the Braves will likely snap out of their early slump with a change of scenery away from Petco Park.

Let’s ride the Over 8 at -110 MLB odds.

MLB Pick: Over 8 (-110) at Bet365
