We are back with our NHL action tonight ahead of a huge Tuesday card featuring no less than 10 games across the league.
With so many betting prospects at the top-rated sportsbooks, we are focusing on a game total between the Sabres and the Avalanche. Elsewhere, we are backing the league’s top goalscorer, Sam Reinhart, to continue his hot scoring streak against one of the league’s worst defences.

On The Fringes
Both the Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres are on the fringes of a playoff position in their respective conferences but recent poor performances have seen both teams struggling to get into a playoff spot.
Overall, the Buffalo Sabres are 11-11-2 this season, whilst the Colorado Avalanche have gone 13-12. Both teams have gone 2-3 in their previous five NHL games.
For tonight’s matchup, we are looking to target goals. Both these teams have struggled defensively, allowing way too many goals. Combined, both teams have allowed 6.8 goals per game. Offensively they have combined for 6.45 goals per game.
The Pick
We like goals in this matchup, and so do the top-rated sportsbooks, as the current total line is sitting at 6.0 for -120 NHL betting odds. We are going to take the 6.0 line with the possibility of a push, although the 6.5 line is tempting. It has to be noted both teams can be known to have a big under game, more so the Sabres, who have suffered two shutouts in their previous five games, losing 1-0 and 4-0.
Colorado has gone 15-9-1 to the total going over, which is currently the 3rd highest in the NHL. Taking a look at Buffalo, their total games to go over has been 11-7-4, which is a strong over record, but they do love a push also.
At the very least we should get six goals here for a push and we don’t mind the -200 odds on the over 5.5 line for a parlay piece.

A Season To Remember
Although we are only 25% into the NHL season, it’s already been one to remember for Sam Reinhart.
Not that last year wasn’t special lifting the Stanley Cup, but scoring 18 goals in 25 games played is a nice return on goals and, if he were to keep up these strong numbers throughout the rest of the season, he could potentially end the year with 60 goals.
The 2014 overall 2nd pick had a season-high 57 goals last year for the Stanley Cup-winning Panthers. He returned 10 goals in 24 appearances throughout the playoffs. Coming into this game, Reinhart has scored in 16 of his 25 games, and throughout the month of November, he banged in 10 goals, scoring in 9 of 13 games.
Overall Reinhart’s stats are amazing, but it gets even better when we find out he is looking to bounce back with a goal tonight against one of the league’s worst defences. Even more so because of the fact his team won 6-0 last time out and he failed to get on the scoreboard.
The Pick
We love the plus money available on Sam Reinhart to find the back of the net against a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has allowed 3.77 goals per game (2nd worst in the NHL right now). Even more impressively on Reinhart’s end, he has scored 10 of his 18 goals on the road, including a 5-0 scoring streak when playing away from home.
Interestingly, Reinhart has failed to score in his previous five games against Pittsburgh, but tonight we believe that streak can be broken and +125 is a nice set of odds for the league’s top scorer to get back on the scoreboard.
We believe this is betable down to as low as +110 given the opposition’s defensive frailties and Reinhart’s strong record on the road in recent weeks.
