Bruins’ Backs Against The Wall
Despite sitting just outside the playoff berth (10th overall), this season has been a slog for the Boston Bruins and their fans. They might be just two wins away from getting themselves into the playoff zone but, at the same time, they are only four wins ahead of the 2nd to last team in the Eastern Conference.
Essentially, a cold run could see them slip right down the table.
Unfortunately for the Bruins, they are slipping down instead of up, having gone 4-6 in their previous ten games. The Bruins are also on a three-game losing streak and the last thing they want right now is the sight of the Toronto Maple Leafs heading into town.
Toronto has been strong in recent weeks and sits 2nd in the Eastern Conference this season. They are currently on form to have their best regular season finish since 2020.
The Pick
The Boston Bruins do have a decent home record sitting at 17-13 overall, but it also has to be noted that Toronto has the 2nd best road record in the Eastern Conference. Both these teams have won 5 of the previous 10 meetings but Toronto has been stronger in recent matchups having won 4 of the previous 6 games.
The Maple Leafs come into this matchup having gone 5-1 across their previous six games and we fancy their chances of making it six in seven games at -110 NHL betting odds on the moneyline. The Bruins could easily win this game but we believe the value lies with the visiting team despite having to lay a little juice.

Reinhart Can Get Back on the Scoreboard
Although Sam Reinhart has been the NHL’s 3rd-highest goalscorer thus far this season, he has failed to score in his previous 4 outings and has only managed to find the back of the net in two of his last eight games. If we include his scoreless 4 Nations Cup, in which he recently competed, he has now technically gone eight games without a goal.
However, all is not lost and there is still plenty of hope to believe he can turn things around on the road tonight against a weak Nashville Predators team. The Nashville Predators have been very poor this season, as they currently sit 3rd-bottom of the Western Conference and have allowed the 4th joint worst 3.3 goals per game.
The Predators’ one saving grace has been their home form, having gone 14-11-3 at home compared to 6-18-4 on the road. That said, Sam Reinhart has favored scoring on the road recently, having had 19 of his 31 goals this season away from home. Last season, he scored 30 goals on the road compared to 27 at home. The final nail in Nashville’s coffin here is that Reinhart has a strong scoring career record against them, with 11 goals in 17 games.
The Pick
It’s hard to predict when a player is going to break their cold streak. Still, we do believe that Sam Reinhart will get plenty of scoring chances tonight against one of the league’s weakest defensive teams. At plus money, this is a bet we can get behind.
To be fair, Reinhart would be as low as +110 had he been in top-scoring form coming into this game, so we would happily take him at the current +135 to break his cold streak on the road tonight in Nashville. Reinhart only had two shots in his previous two NHL games and only managed one shot the last time he faced the Predators. A change is coming.
