Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Montreal Canadiens

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 – 07:00 PM ET at Bell Centre

Lightning to Strike Hard in Montreal

The Tampa Bay Lightning have gone 19-19-2 overall this season when looking at the total going over, which is a very respectable number when you consider a lot of their games have involved 6.0 and 6.5 lines.

Montreal has been a solid over team this season having gone 23-20-3 and has seen 7+ goals scored in 5 of their previous 10 games, which is one of the main reasons we like the plus money odds available on this NHL bet.

Never mind the fact these two teams absolutely love facing each other offensively, with their previous five games having gone over 6.5 goals, as well as 7 of their previous 10 meetings.

The Pick

We are getting +110 NHL betting odds for 7 or more goals. This is more than likely given the two teams involved. Both teams have also seen high-scoring games, with Tampa Bay having 6 and 7 goals in their previous two games, while Montreal has seen an eye-watering 9 and 10 goals.

NHL Pick: Lightning/Canadians Over 6.5 (+110) at Bet365

Detroit Red Wings vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 – 07:00 PM ET at Wells Fargo Center

Larking Top Shot Taker

Detroit has been a middling team this season and its record shows it, having gone 21-21-4 overall. They sit 13th out of 16 teams in the Eastern Conference and tonight they are facing the team above them (Philadelphia). There is just one win between both teams, and Detroit has a game in hand, so a win tonight would see them likely change position with the Flyers.

That said, tonight we are looking to target Detroit’s top shot taker on the road, Dylan Larkin, to bring his shooting gloves. We suspect he will need plenty of shots tonight.

The Pick

With the Flyers being the home team and having a somewhat decent home record (5-5 in their last ten and 4-0 in their last four against Detroit), we wouldn’t be surprised to see them take the lead here and possibly even win the game, which in our eyes increases Dylan Larkins chances of seeing over 3.5 shots taken at plus money.

Larking is as high as +120 to see 4 or more shots on the road, and thus far this season he has averaged 3.2 shots per game on the road, as well as having averaged 3 against the Flyers in his career.

NHL Pick: Dylan Larkin Over 3.5 Shots (+120) at Bet365

Washington Capitals vs. Edmonton Oilers

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 – 09:00 PM ET at Rogers Place

Top Teams Matchup

We have some offensive power on display in this matchup, with Alex Ovechkin back as good as ever having scored a very respectable 21 goals in 30 games (not bad for a 39-year-old). Ovechkin managed only 31 goals in 79 games last season.

Never mind the offensive prowess of the Oilers with the likes of Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl, we believe this game could actually go under. Yes, we had you fooled to believe we were bigging up goals here, and don’t get us wrong, there still might be plenty, but given both teams’ recent results, we like the under here.

The Pick

With Washington’s defensive prowess, we believe they should be strong enough to keep the Oilers relatively quiet.

Washington has seen seven or fewer goals scored in 7 of their previous 10 games, as well as the fact that they have seen 5 or fewer goals in 50% of their previous ten games.

NHL Pick: Capitals/Oilers Under 6.5 (-125) at Bet365
