The NHL is back to business this Saturday after a 12-day break for the Four Nations Tournament. And wouldn’t you know it—Connor McDavid and Team Canada took home the win with a 3-2 overtime victory over Team USA in the final.

We’re excited about several the NHL odds on this Saturday’s slate, so let’s strap in and try to find some winning bets.

Picks Summary

  • Buffalo Sabres ML (+145)
  • Colorado To Win in Regulation (+105)

New York Rangers vs. Buffalo Sabres

Saturday, February 22, 2025 – 05:30 PM ET at KeyBank Center

Falling Rangers

It’s been slow progress for both these teams in recent months, but more so for the NY Rangers, who had Stanley Cup hopes. In the previous 25 NHL games, they have been the fourth-worst team overall (Buffalo was second-worst in the same time frame).

Right now, the Rangers still have a lot of work to do if they wish to make the playoffs. Having gone 12-13 in recent months, they sit 11th overall in the Eastern Conference.

There is no doubt the Buffalo Sabres are no great team either, as they sit bottom of the Eastern Conference, but we don’t believe we can trust the NY Rangers to win on the road as heavy favorites, especially considering we have had almost a two-week break.

The Pick

The Buffalo Sabres have a winning record on home ice (just about) with a 13-12-3 record. However, their road form is the real reason they sit last in the Eastern Conference with a 9-15-2 record. The Sabres have won 2 of their last 5 meetings against the Rangers and beat them less than 3 months ago 6-1.

Had this been in the Big Apple, we would gladly stay away here. Still, we believe the +145 on the Buffalo Sabres to win on the moneyline is a strong bet value-wise. Buffalo is more than capable of beating this Rangers team with attackers like Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner on the ice.

NHL Pick: Buffalo Sabres ML (+145) at Bet365

Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators

Saturday, February 22, 2025 – 06:00 PM ET at Bridgestone Arena

Colorado Available at Plus Money

When looking at this matchup, we expected to see the Colorado Avalanche as road favorites, and rightly so. However, when looking a bit further into the different markets at the top-rated sportsbooks, we found that they are available to win this game in regulation at plus money and we are on board.

The Nashville Predators rank as the third-worst team in the Western Conference and have gone 4-6 in their previous ten games. Additionally, they have only won once in their previous five outings.

Although they have a decent record on home ice, having won 50% of their games so far (ninth-best at home out of 16 teams), the Colorado Avalanche are one of the top teams in the NHL and have a strong road record this season having gone 17-12 (joint 2nd-best in the Western Conference).

The Pick

Sometimes we like to oppose trends, and this is one of those situations, as it must be noted the Avalanche are 0-3 in their previous three visits to Nashville. That was then, this is now, and we believe this Nashville team is not strong enough to beat the Avalanche over a best of 7 games.

That said, we are backing the Avalanche to win this one as road favorites. We like the +105 odds available for the Avalanche to win this one in regulation. Their moneyline odds are -135 and, to be honest, we don’t want to lay that on a team that is 0-3 in this arena. Coming off the back of a break anything can happen.

The Avalanche won the previous two meetings against Nashville on home ice, so let’s hope they can push on after the two-week break and put a stop to their 0-3 streak in Nashville.

NHL Pick: Colorado To Win in Regulation (+105) at Bet365
