Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild
Tuesday, March 11, 2025 – 08:00 PM ET at Xcel Energy Center
Goals, Goals, Goals
We are all in for this matchup to produce goals, but not only that: we also have some value on our side, as we are currently getting -130 for over 5.5 goals in this game, which is very generous. We would fully expect this number to be around -170/190 come puck drop.
The Colorado Avalanche have been on fire lately, scoring 7/7/4/5/5 goals in each of their previous five games (almost 6 goals per game on average). The Minnesota Wild haven’t seen scoring as high as the Avalanche in recent weeks but have allowed an average of 4.3 goals per game across their previous five home losses.
Overall, this season, Colorado is 31-30-2 to the total going over. However, it must be noted that the majority of those games had a 6 or 6.5 line, and the Avalanche have actually seen 37 of their 64 goals go over 5.5 goals.
Ironically, despite having had a lot of high-scoring games lately, the Avalanche did go 8-4 to the under between January 20th and February 27th (which has contributed a lot towards their unders this season).
The Pick
Both these teams have combined for 6.1 goals per game when looking at their previous five matchups, with four of those five games ending in exactly seven goals.
The Colorado Avalanche seem unstoppable right now in front of the crease, having had back-to-back seven-goal games. We believe this game should be capable of hitting six goals, and therefore, we are more than happy to lay the -130 juice on the over 5.5 goals in this NHL matchup.
NHL Pick: Avalanche/Wild Over 5.5 (-130) at Bet365
Montreal Canadiens vs. Vancouver Canucks
Tuesday, March 11, 2025 – 10:00 PM ET at Rogers Arena
Quinn Hughes to Get Back on the Scoreboard
Despite being the Vancouver Canucks top points-scorer overall with 60 points scored this season, Quinn Hughes has failed to get on the scoreboard for the previous two games (both ending in losses). That said, we are looking for the two-way defender to get back on the scoreboard on home ice in this good old fashion Canadian rivalry, as the Canucks welcome Montreal to town.
Hughes has scored 60 points for Vancouver this season in 50 games played, which is 22 points more than their 2nd highest points scorer, and even then, Hughes has managed to play five games less. Essentially, without Hughes on this team, it’s hard to see where the points are going to come from.
Throughout his career, Hughes has been impressive against the Montreal Canadiens, having scored 19 assists in 18 games played, just over one point per game. Interestingly, Hughes has never scored a goal against the Canadiens. Out of Hughes’ 60 points this season, only 14 of those are goals, and he has had 57 career goals compared to 336 assists.
The Pick
We believe the Vancouver Canucks should stay strong having gone 5-1 in their previous six home games. Meanwhile, the Canadiens have gone 2-4 in their previous six road games.
Hughes failed to score in his previous two outings, so we are backing him tonight at plus money to see over 1.5 match points at +120 NHL betting odds.
NHL Pick: Quinn Hughes Over 1.5 Points (+120) at Bet365
