On top of all this, they rank as the 13th-worst defense and are struggling offensively thus far this season, averaging just 2.8 goals per game.
Unperforming with this offense is only going one way and that’s up, we expect them to average 3+ goals this season come the end of the regular season.
Unfortunately, the mystery factor here is the Senators’ chances of seeing a high-scoring game. Ottawa have averaged 5.7 goals in each of their previous 10 games, which is respectable, but they tend to go one way or the other, either way over or way under. This total line is way too low, even if juiced to -130 NHL betting odds for the over 5.5. We believe that we are going to get at least six goals here and honestly would play this down to -140 for this over 5.5 total.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Lightning Don’t Travel Well
The Lightning you hear on a dark and stormy day might travel well, but the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team doesn’t. They are 3-5 on the road this season including a 3-0 losing streak, and to top that streak off their 0-3 in their previous three visits to the PPG Paints Arena.
Yes, the Penguins have been touch and go at times this season on home ice, going 4-4. It really just depends if they’re feeling it or not; well let’s hope tonight they are because we believe the Lightning are not strong enough to be the favorite, as their moneyline suggests.

The Penguins are to be respected, they might not be the team they once were, but any offense with Sid the Kid Crosby, Evangi Malkin and Erik Karlsson at the back is to be respected.
This is a strong value play in our eyes, the Penguins can beat anyone on their day and this could be one of those days. We would happily bet the Penguins on the moneyline down to as low as +125.

Florida Panthers vs. Winnipeg Jets

No Show Like a Verhaeghe Show
Carter Verhaeghe has been on fire this season for the Florida Panthers when it comes to shooting the puck, although he only has the 5th-most amount of points (will likely finish with the 3rd most at least) he has by far taken the most shots on this Panthers team, especially when playing on the road.
Verhaeghe has averaged 3.4 shots per game thus far this season and when playing on the road has seen an average of 3.9 shots per game. The Winnipeg Jets have one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, if not the best, so Florida and their top shot-taker should look or need to get plenty of shots off to beat him tonight.
The Pick
Verhaeghe heads into this game having only had one shot on goal in each of his previous two games. We believe he will be looking for a bounce-back spot tonight and +100 odds is strong value for him to see 4+ shots on the road.
