We are back with some NHL action tonight and despite having just four games on tonight’s card, we are liking two plus money bets at the top sportsbooks.
Firstly, we believe the Golden Knights have a chance of causing an upset in Dallas while breaking their losing streak.
Our second pick of the night takes us to Chicago where the Tampa Bay Lightning are coming to town and we are looking at a player prop for this game.
Picks Summary
- Golden Knights ML (+125)
- Brayden Point Over 1.5 Points (+125)

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars
Friday, January 24, 2025 – 07:30 PM ET at American Airlines Center
Trouble in Paradise
Both the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights rank 5th and 2nd respectively in the Western Conference but have fallen on hard times in recent games with the Golden Knights now on a 0-4 losing streak, they have also managed to win just one of their previous eight NHL games.
The Dallas Stars have won just two of their previous six NHL games. On home ice, Dallas has won 50% of their previous 10 games, whilst the Golden Knights have a 50% record on the road in their previous 10 games.
The previous 10 matchups between these two teams have seen Vegas come away with six wins, but only twice in their previous five games against Dallas have they come away with a win.
The Pick
Despite the Golden Knights being the road team, we do like their chances of winning here as underdogs, there isn’t much to separate these two teams in terms of quality and resources. Like we stated just three positions separate these teams in the Conference and only three points separate both teams.
In our opinion, this is very much a 50/50 game, and given the fact Vegas has not won for four games now, we would almost give them the slighter edge here, so give us the Golden Knights at +125 NHL betting odds to come away with the victory in Dallas this Friday night. We would happily bet Vegas down to as low as +105.
NHL Pick: Golden Knights ML (+125) at Bet365
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Friday, January 24, 2025 – 08:00 PM ET at United Center
Brayden to Be on Point
Tampa Bay’s 2nd joint highest points scorer Brayden Point has scored 50 points in 41 NHL games thus far this season (which technically makes him officially the 2nd highest points scorer as Brandon Hagel has scored the same amount of points but played five games more).
Point failed to score last time out against Montreal and interestingly has also failed to score 2+ points in the month of January thus far (which is the bet we are looking to take tonight). Point has scored at least one point in 7 of 11 games played thus far in January.
Looking back on last month in December, Brayden was on fire banging in at least one point in 11 of 12 games, he also managed to have 2+ points in five of those games.
All said and done, we believe Point can get back on the scoreboard tonight and hopefully, he can follow that up with a multiple-point night against one of the weakest teams in the NHL right now.
Chicago has allowed the 3rd most amount of goals per game at 3.43, and also sits bottom of the Eastern Conference, whilst opponents Tampa Bay are the league’s top goalscorer per game at the time of writing with 3.61 goals scored.
The Pick
The Blackhawks have allowed an average of four goals per game in their previous five games, whilst the Tampa Bay Lightning are currently riding a 0-2 losing streak.
Tonight the Lightning should look to get a win and put a few past Chicago and at +125 NHL odds for Brayden Point to see over 1.5 points for the first time since December we like this current set of odds. Point should get plenty of scoring opportunities against a team he has scored 29 points against in 21 career games played.
NHL Pick: Brayden Point Over 1.5 Points (+125) at Bet365
