Connor Hellebuyck is having an unbelievable season thus far as he leads the league in goals allowed per game with just 1.83 after 12 games. Igor Shesterkin hasn’t been as impressive allowing 2.62 goals per game, but that said, it’s still a very reasonable number and he has the tied 5th least amount of goals against of all the goaltenders who have played ten or more games.
The previous five meetings between these teams saw 6/5/5/5/3 goals scored, and if we include games six and seven, they also ended on five goals. Just three of the previous ten meetings between the Jets and Rangers at Madison Square Garden have seen seven or more goals scored.
The Pick
Despite the Jets going 8-6 to the total over and the Rangers 6-6, we find it hard to believe we are going to see seven goals in this matchup between these two goaltenders.
The under 6.0 line for a push at -125 NHL odds looks like a very reasonable number but we wouldn’t be inclined to lay any more juice than -130 on the under 6.0 line. At worst we should see this game end with six goals and receive a push.

Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

No Matthews, Nylander Holding Fort
With the absence of Auston Matthews in recent games, Toronto winger William Nylander has stepped up to the mark as the team’s go-to star when attacking the goals, and so far, Nylander has banged in 11 goals in 16 games played as well as having scored five times in his previous seven outings.
Nylander scored last time out against the Montreal Canadiens and faces the Ottawa Senators tonight, a team in which he has scored 13 career goals against. Nylander’s 11 goals so far this season see him 2nd overall in the goalscoring list.
His highest-ever season goal tally was 40 goals during the regular season, a feat he has managed in each of his previous two seasons.
The Pick
With the Maple Leafs likely to score a few goals on home ice tonight against a team who has allowed 3.20 goals per game, we believe that Nylander’s +120 odds to score a goal is a nice play for this NHL matchup.
We would bet this down to as low as +110 as the Leafs mostly rely on Nylander to find the back of the net in Matthew’s absence.

Boston Bruins vs. St. Louis Blues

We struck gold a few days ago taking the Blues at +130 on the moneyline to win at home and they duly delivered as underdogs, so let’s go back to the well again, only this time we like their PK line for minus money.
The Blues are 5-3 ATS on home ice thus far this season, while opponents Boston have the second-worst ATS record on the road coming in at 2-5 overall.
The Bruins have even gone 2-5 on the moneyline on the road this season, meaning the Blues to win this game at +130 is also a solid pick on the moneyline but we like their PK line odds.
The Pick
It’s very rare you will get a +1.5 home PK line juiced as low as -125, it’s usually -180 or more. This is a strong play here for the Blues to cover the spread at home, and don’t be surprised if they pull the win out of the bag at plus money.
