We’re just two months away from the 2024 Olympics. Ultimately, one of the most exciting events in the Olympics is Men’s Basketball.
While the USA typically dominates the competition, it’s clear to see that other countries are improving drastically year after year. There’s a lot of pressure on the USA at top-rated sportsbooks to continue winning.
They announced their star-studded roster already. However, there are still other teams who are waiting on confirmations before announcing their team.
For example, it’s still unclear if Nikola Jokic will participate in the Olympics. That said, all rosters will be confirmed following the Technical Meeting, which will take place before the competition begins.

Below are the current odds for all Men’s Basketball teams to win the gold in the 2024 Olympics.

USA -400
The USA team is looking absolutely incredible.
For this year’s Olympics, they’ll have LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Davis, Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday, Bam Adebayo and Kawhi Leonard.
While this is likely LeBron James and Stephen Curry’s last Olympics, the USA did a good job of adding some young talent to the roster.
Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers into the Eastern Conference Finals, while Anthony Edwards brought the Timberwolves into the Western Conference Finals. In addition, the USA got a commitment from Joel Embiid, who had considered playing for two other countries before agreeing to play.
If the United States takes the Olympics seriously, it will win gold. However, it should be pointed out that there weren’t even tryouts for this team. The USA just took its best players and put them on the team.
While the USA looks terrific on paper, it would’ve been nice to hold tryouts and see which players work well together. As we’ve seen many times, the best NBA teams don’t always win the championship. Chemistry matters, and it’ll be more important in the Olympics against countries that are only improving.
That said, the USA still did a good job at filling up the roster with balanced players. That’s why they’re -400 to win the Olympics event.
Serbia +1000
Serbia has yet to announce its roster. When Nikola Jokic was asked about potentially playing for Serbia, he acknowledged that he hadn’t made a decision yet. Without Jokic, Serbia would not be +1000 odds to win the Olympics. So keep that in mind before betting on the Serbians.
That said, they’ve got Filip Petrusev, who has played in America in college and professionally. However, if Jokic elects not to play, their best player is probably Aleksa Avramovic.
There’s a narrative around Jokic that he doesn’t even enjoy basketball. However, I don’t believe that. I’d expect he’ll play for his home country in the Olympics. The odds simply won’t change drastically if he decides to join the fun.
Therefore, if you’re looking to back Serbia, just wait for the roster confirmation.
Canada +900
Canada has a lot of NBA talent that can clearly compete with the USA.
They’ll be led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who most thought should’ve won the MVP this season. The roster hasn’t been confirmed, but it’ll likely include R.J. Barrett, Kelly Olynyk, Dillon Brooks, Lu Dort, Dwight Powell and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
There’s always a chance that Canada can land Jamal Murray to play for them this year. Plus, with the way Andrew Nembhard finished the playoffs, you’d have to imagine he’ll get a chance to play for Team Canada.
They’ll also have to consider names like Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Shaedon Sharpe, Trey Lyles and other players who have at least played in the NBA previously.
There could be room for Zach Edey, who was the NCAA’s best player this year. Edey did some big things with Purdue and would be a big body to at least make other team’s big work.
I seriously like Canada at +900. They can compete with the USA.
France +1000
If France landed all of its actual talent in the NBA and in-country, it would be a really difficult out.
They’ve already announced the roster for the Olympics, and it includes Victor Wembanyama. France missed out on Joel Embiid and won’t have the potential No. 1 overall pick, Zaccharie Risacher, for the Olympics. As the No. 1 overall pick landing on a new team, there’s no way NBA teams would allow him to play in the Olympics.
Still, along with Victor Wembanyama, the roster will include NBA players such as Bilal Coulibaly, Ousmane Dieng, Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Killian Hayes, Theo Maledon, Frank Ntilikina and Nicholas Batum.
It’s a fun roster of notable names. However, it’s hard to see France beating the USA or Canada in this year’s Olympics.
Germany +1900
Finally, Germany’s roster isn’t out yet. However, after having some success in the World Cup, Germany should be interesting enough. They’ll probably have Dennis Schroder and the Wagner brothers leading the charge.
At +1900, Germany offers value, but again, I’d wait for the actual roster to come out before betting on it.
