Yu Darvish Bounce Back
The Padres will give Yu Darvish his second start of the second half. In his first game, he only faced 14 batters and allowed a .333 ISO and wOBA of .466.
But this season, he’s held teams to a .292 wOBA and has struck out nearly 24% of batters. He’ll improve as he gets more comfortable on the mound.
Darvish will match up against a Mariners lineup with six batters hitting an ISO of .148. This is a good spot for Darvish to succeed.
Kirby’s Struggles
George Kirby will get the start for the Mariners tonight. While he’s kept walks to 4.1%, he’s allowed a .250 ISO and wOBA of .397 to his last 122 batters. He’s also struck out below 20% of batters the previous month.
This isn’t like Kirby, but he’s pitching poorly right now. He’s allowed nearly 49% of hard contact and has allowed 30% of fly balls.
The Padres have five hitters slugging at least a .150 ISO against righties in the last 30 days.
