Musgrove Will Add Higher Strikeouts
Joe Musgrove will take the hill for the Padres. The right-hander has only struck out 19.9% of batters this season and returned to the mound from an injury with just 5.9% of strikeouts against 17 batters.
But he’s facing a Rockies lineup with eight batters that have struck out at least 24.3% of the time. His strikeout rate will increase, which will only help his entire body of work today.
Lots Of Hits Coming For San Diego
The Rockies will counter with Bradley Blalock. He’s a righty pitcher who has allowed 36.8% of line drives and 36.8% of fly balls over the last month.
In addition, he’s only struck out 17.4% of batters and has allowed 47.4% of hard contact over the last 30 days.
San Diego can take advantage as its lineup has hit a .191 ISO and wOBA of .357 with under 17% of strikeouts over the last month against righties. However, don’t expect the Padres to score at an elite rate. At the end of the day, Blalock has held his first 27 batters this season to a .115 ISO and wOBA of .266.
