The MLB AI Computer Model is back in action to help us find some value on this crowded but valuable Sunday slate!
The AI Model suggests the Padres will defeat the Phillies at home, 5-3, in this final matchup between the two teams. However, the Padres are only -135 on the moneyline per the MLB odds, despite being expected to win by two runs according to the model.
The value is certainly on the Padres in this one. Let us know if you’re tailing at the top betting sites!

Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres
Sunday, April 28, 2024 – 04:10 PM ET at Petco Park
The Season Debut For Taijuan Walker
The Philadelphia Phillies will get right-hander Taijuan Walker back on the mound today. He’s a veteran right-hander who began the season on the Injured List.
However, last season, he allowed a .180 ISO and wOBA of .320 to 375 lefties and figures to face lefties in half of the lineup today. Meanwhile, Walker only struck out 18.8% of batters last season and managed just 17.5% of strikeouts against righties.
Walker is your typical average pitcher.
Michael King Might Walk Some Batters But Can Limit Damage
On the other hand, the Padres will roll with Michael King. He’s a right-handed pitcher who has struck out 24.4% of batters to begin the year. He’s also walked 11.8% of batters, but that’s due to his high walk rate against lefties.
While the Phillies have lefties that walk at a high rate, it’s more likely the Phillies have the majority of the lineup right-handed.
King has struck out more than 30% of righties and has kept walks to just 6.3% against righties. In addition, he’s righties to a .288 wOBA.
MLB Computer Pick
The Padres check out and look like the better team analytically. I’ll stick with the AI Model here and back the Padres at -135.
