Seth Lugo Dominates Lefties
The Royals will pitch Seth Lugo, who has dominated lefties over the last month. The right-handed pitcher has earned nearly 33% of strikeouts against lefties. He’s also held lefties to a .048 ISO and wOBA of .249 over the last 30 days and has induced over 56% of groundballs.
Lucky for him, Lugo will face a Rockies lineup that will likely have more lefties in it. Those lefties have ultimately struck out more than 26% of the time over the last 30 days against righties.
He’ll be in control for most of this game, even though it’s being played at Coors Field.
Kansas City’s Breakout
The Royals haven’t hit lefties at a high rate recently. Instead, they’ve hit just a .066 ISO and wOBA of .255. Yet, we’ll still back them tonight. Why?
They’re facing Austin Gomber, who has allowed a .207 ISO and wOBA of .426 to his last 92 righties. Gomber, a lefty, has only earned 14.1% of strikeouts against righties and has allowed nearly 35% of line drives against righties.
Kansas City should have at least eight righties in the lineup.
