Arsenal FC vs. AFC Bournemouth
Saturday, March 4, 2023 – 10:00 AM EST at Emirates Stadium
Arsenal
With contrasting scorelines from their previous two league outings, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta won’t mind that his side barely edged Leicester City 1-0 because they soon reminded the division why they’re the league leaders with four goals against Everton.
Since their back-and-forth battle with Aston Villa on matchday 24 – which ended 4-2 for the Gunners – this team hasn’t looked back at their slight dip in form. They’re now five points clear of Manchester City, again, and will welcome a struggling Bournemouth squad to the Emirates Stadium with no doubts of achieving another three points.
Bournemouth
The Premier League schedule isn’t getting any easier for Bournemouth. The EPL newcomers are 19th in the table, facing a relegation battle, and will return to action from a 4-1 dismantling at the hands of the league’s defending champions, Manchester City.
Facing the table’s No.2 and No.1 positioned team while you’re faced with an uphill battle of staying a top-tier side is rough, especially when Gary O’Neil’s men have conceded more goals than any other team this term (48).
Pick and Prediction
Much like Bournemouth’s previous meeting with Pep Guardiola’s defending league champions, the upcoming meeting with Arsenal points towards a routine victory for Arteta and company.
It’s difficult to envision this game ending well for the Cherries, a team that’s already lost by three or goals on five occasions this season. In addition, Arsenal has collected two wins by four goals when playing at the Emirates, and they should have no trouble in winning the first half and then extending or keeping that lead by the final whistle.
Arsenal faces a team who’ve lost all eight meetings with Premier League sides sitting in the top half of the table – conceding 27 goals in those meetings. With an excellent price of +150 at the Premier League odds, the Gunners won’t struggle to take a first-half lead and finish the game on top.
Soccer Pick: Arsenal Halftime/Full-Time (+150) at Caesars Sportsbook
1. FC Union Berlin vs. 1. FC Koln
Saturday, March 4, 2023 – 09:30 AM EST at Stadion An der Alten Försterei
Union Berlin
Union Berlin’s German title chase was dampened with a 3-0 loss to rivals and league leaders Bayern Munich last time out. However, with a mere 3-point gap separating them from the top spot, they can quickly bounce back when returning home this weekend when facing an inconsistent Koln squad.
The surprise outfit from Germany’s capital has registered 13 wins, four draws, and five losses this term, and only Bayern boasts a greater defensive record. And before their loss last week, they were on a streak of seven wins and two draws from their previous 10 meetings in all competitions.
Koln
FC Koln returns to domestic action following a 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg. With 13 registered shots, the Lions didn’t fall back and allow this defeat and notably shared a good chunk of possession on home soil.
Looking at the bigger picture, however, Steffen Baumgart’s squad has lost back-to-back games, and a 3-0 loss to relegation-battlers Stuttgart doesn’t bode well for their visits to Berlin.
Pick and Prediction
The Bundesliga odds favor the home side, and we completely support this pricing position of -105 on Berlin’s moneyline.
FC Koln has not only lost two straight Bundesliga meetings, but they’ve also failed to score in 4 of their last 5 games, giving the home side an excellent position to collect all three points.
Considering Union Berlins’ loss to Bayern was their first defeat since November, the Irons Ones should have no problem in finding a way to win on home turf, and don’t be surprised if they achieve this behind a clean sheet.
Soccer Pick: Union Berlin ML (-105) at BetMGM
