Can Bailey Ober Continue His Success?
Bailey Ober has had two consecutive dominating starts. However, both starts came against the lowly Athletics.
Ober has a high strikeout rate and low walk rate, but he’s also allowed a .246 ISO and wOBA of .348 to his last 122 batters.
It’s unlikely Ober continues to dominate, especially going up against a team like the Mariners, who are way above .500 and getting timely hitting all season.
Logan Gilbert Is Overpowering
On the other hand, the Mariners will pitch Logan Gilbert. He’s been much more consistent than Ober and has held opponents to a .243 wOBA. Even if he allows some power and a home run, it’s typically just a solo shot because he rarely will enable teams to get on base.
The Twins also don’t walk much against righties. Therefore, Gilbert should shine in tonight’s showdown against the Twins.
