USFL Week 2 Odds: Point Spreads, Lines, Results for Every Week 1 Game

The first week of the USFL’s action proved to be as adventurous as anyone had hoped.

Three of the four games in Week 1 had exciting one-score finishes. We’re hoping Week 2 brings as much success for gamblers as it did with the opening weekend.

USFL Week 1 Results

Tampa Bay Bandits 17 – Pittsburgh Maulers 3

The Bandits were huge betting hits for us. They covered the 5.5-point spread with ease and cashed in on the moneyline with their victory.

The under of 41.5 also hit as the teams combined for just 20 points. Pittsburgh couldn’t get anything going on offense as their blockers were blown off the line by Tampa Bay’s physical front.

This is something worth watching moving forward. If the Bandits can continue to dominate the trenches and Pittsburgh gets destroyed, both will go in completely opposite directions in the standings.

New Orleans Breakers 23 – Philadelphia Stars 17

Although Philadelphia had the opportunity to score late, the New Orleans Breakers held off the Stars and covered the 2.5-point spread.

New Orleans was the favorite on the moneyline as well, hitting a sweet return as we doubted the Stars’ ability to pull this one out as underdogs. The total also went under the 44.5 line.

Philadelphia may have cost themselves a win by going too conservative with their run-based offense.

Their passing attack was humming but attempted only three passes in the second half. New Orleans has great potential on offense but their defense must step up.

Houston Gamblers 17 – Michigan 12

Michigan was the 3.5-point favorite after having the top overall draft pick in the USFL Draft.

Houston cashed in as an underdog on the moneyline and the spread with their victory. The under easily cleared the 43.5 total set for them.

Michigan was much better in the second half and almost stole this one on the last play against Houston. Houston should be concerned about their win. A cleaner game from the favorites would have led to a loss.

Birmingham Stallions 28 – New Jersey Generals 24

Another favorite not only cashed in on the moneyline here but also covered their spread of 2.5.

Birmingham was just a slight favorite but nonetheless gave good value to their backers. The over finally hit on a game, as the teams combined for 52 points versus a 39.5 total.

Backup quarterback J’Mar Smith replaced Alex McGough and changed the outcome of this battle.

The Stallions didn’t lead until their last-second touchdown by Smith. New Jersey has to recover quickly and avoid spiraling from a tough opening loss.
