Las Vegas-based Caesars Entertainment recently announced it was expanding its footprint with the opening of three retail sportsbooks in New Mexico.
Caesars Enters the Land of Enchantment
Iconic gaming brand Caesars Entertainment has recently partnered with Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) and will be opening retail sportsbooks in three of its properties, including the 66 Casino Hotel, Casino Xpress, and Dancing Eagle Casino. New Mexico is one of only five states that has legalized retail sports betting but not mobile sports wagering.
“We are excited to partner with one of the world’s leading gaming companies to provide New Mexico sports fans a world-class wagering experience that connects our guests with sporting events around the country and world,” said Maxine Velasquez, president, and CEO of LDC. “The introduction of Caesars Sportsbook to the Albuquerque metro market represents our long-held strategy to bring guests the finest products and services available in the industry.”
Route 66 Casino Hotel general manager Adrian Fox was also enthused with the new partnership, saying, “As we continue to make improvements and upgrades throughout our casino and restaurants this year, we are also providing our guests with new special amenities, including access to one of the country’s leading sports betting brands. Wagering options on the Caesars Sportsbook platform are nearly unlimited in scope, encompassing sports from around the world.”
Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, recently spoke about the partnership with LDC, stating, “LDC shares our passion for treating guests like royalty. We believe that bringing our first-class Caesars Sportsbook locations and sports betting kiosks to their historic properties will provide an elevated and rewarding sports wagering experience built for the modern sports fan 21 and older in New Mexico.”
BetMGM Enters 28th Market
Caesars may be the latest major gaming brand to enter New Mexico but they are not the only one. BetMGM partnered with Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque last November and its state-of-the-art sportsbook includes five manned betting windows, five self-serve kiosks, 35 flat-screen monitors, and two VIP sections all included in 4,900 square feet of sports betting space.
“Isleta Resort & Casino’s goal is to constantly improve the consumer experience,” Karl Waitner, Chief Executive Officer of Isleta Resort & Casino, said. “Our new partnership with BetMGM makes unforgettable moments in sports even more personal, powerful, and fun.”
“This is an exciting moment for both Isleta Resort & Casino and those that enjoy the fun and excitement of sports betting. We believe we are ‘Where the fun begins’ when it comes to New Mexico Gaming,” said Adrianna Jiron, Chief Operations Officer, Isleta Resort & Casino.
Adam Greenblatt, Chief Executive Officer of BetMGM, said, “It’s a privilege to enter New Mexico and collaborate with Isleta Resort & Casino. We’re confident sports fans will enjoy the world-class gameday experience that only BetMGM provides.”
Ready for Online Betting?
The recent opening of retail sportsbooks in New Mexico could be a precursor to the major sports betting platforms like Caesars and BetMGM getting their ducks in a row so that if and when mobile sports betting gets approved by the legislature, they will already have their sports betting partners solidified.
