Caesars Entertainment recently announced the launch of its Horseshoe Online Casino in Michigan, bringing the total number of digital casinos available in the Wolverine State to 16 with the most recent addition.
Legacy Brand Launches in Michigan
Caesars Entertainment rolled out its Horseshoe Online Casino in Michigan earlier this week and it is available on iOS, Android, and desktop. The Horseshoe brand dates back to 1951 when Binion’s owned it before Harrah’s (now Caesars) purchased the iconic gaming brand in 2004.
“The Horseshoe brand is anchored by a promise to put the player first,” said Matt Sunderland, Senior Vice President and Chief iGaming Officer at Caesars Digital. “A brand with such a storied past deserves an online equivalent that pays respect to the legacy it has established in gaming, and that is what we’ve created with Horseshoe Online Casino. This launch reinforces our multi-brand online casino strategy by seamlessly bringing another one of our world-class Caesars brands into the palms of players’ hands.”
Although the Horseshoe online casino is available only in Michigan, sources believe the brand will launch in Caesars’ other online gaming markets including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
The Horseshoe’s catalog includes digital favorites such as Horseshoe Rising Rewards by Games Global, Horseshoe Slick Riches LuckyTap by Design Works Gaming, 2x3x Horseshoe from AGS, and Horseshoe 3 Coin Cowboy by Bragg Gaming.
Caesars’ newest entry will join its other brands including Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, Caesars Palace Online Casino, Tropicana Online Casino, Harrah’s Online Casino, and WSOP.COM giving Caesars customers plenty of digital gaming options in Michigan.
“This launch reinforces our multi-brand online casino strategy by seamlessly bringing another one of our world-class Caesars’ brands into the palms of players’ hands,” Sunderland. “A brand with such a storied past deserves an online equivalent that pays respect to the legacy it has established in gaming, and that is what we’ve created with Horseshoe Online Casino.”
Caesars Donates to Anti-Sports Betting Cause
Missouri voters will have their say regarding sports betting in the Show Me State on November’s ballot. FanDuel and DraftKings have donated a combined $31.55 million to Winning for Missouri Education, a political action committee formed to advocate for sports betting.
But there is an opposing faction, Missourians Against the Deceptive Online Gambling Amendment (MADOGA), and Caesars Entertainment has surprisingly donated over $14 million to the cause under the names of its three land-based casinos.
Caesars is a national online casino and sports betting operator which would seem to run counter to the company fighting against online sports betting in Missouri, or any other state for that matter. But it is not sports betting that it objects to but rather this particular legislation that will allow only one skin to every land-based casino operator regardless of how many Missouri casinos they own.
Because Caesars owns and operates three casinos in Missouri, the most of any operator in the state, and would normally get three skins in other markets but it will only receive one skin under this current legislation should sports betting pass.
Caesars likely objects to another aspect of the legislation in that two mobile sports betting licenses will be exempt from being tethered to any land-based casino or professional sports franchise. It’s probably a pretty good bet that the two industry leaders, FanDuel and DraftKings, will get those untethered licenses, which doesn’t make Caesars very happy either.
